Crystal Antlers - EP (2008)

Indiana Jones? A new HEALTH remix band? A new method? NOPE! This is the beginning of a band called Crystal Antlers whose latest EP sweeps rock n roll by radiant storm. At twenty-five minutes, a storm surge of heavy riffage , well placed organs, and articulated drumming is the right amount of time to keep ones attention while leaving you well hungry for more. While listening, thoughts of power that of the MC5, technical components of Comets on Fire, and bluesy-ness of The Slide Machine come to mind. These guys are helping bring back the part of rock n roll that has not been fully grasped in the recent years of "revival". This is a good amalgamation of bluesy progressive lo-fi, and anti-60's psych-pop. After doing some research, I discovered that Ikey Owens of The Mars Volta produced the release which says a lot considering his background in music. You are not missing any part of the band, all parts are there. Oh, and guess what? They aren't from Brooklyn. At least not yet. LISTEN
